Hey All,

I know someone posted a thread for a PHP programmer, but I currently don't have any money to pay for one. BUT, here's my propesition.

I run an upcoming website called 'The Abyss Entertainment Network', and I am looking for different types of programmers. If you specialize in PHP, cool! If you specialize in PERL/CGI Awesome... if you specialize in more than one... even better! But I am looking for all types of programmers. I want to make web-based, customizeable, member areas, searches, web directories, and so much more.

Like I said before, I don't have any money to offer... RIGHT NOW. As soon as AEN (Abyss Entertainment Network) gets off of it's feet, and begins to generate a little income, saleries will start to happen.

If you are interested in becoming an official AEN programmer, just post here, or send me an e-mail. All of your work will be yours, and you will recieve credit for it. E-Mail me at <a href="mailto:AbyssJoe@aol.com">AbyssJoe@aol.com</a>. I would be very grateful if you would assist in getting the (FUTURE) biggest Entertainment Network online up!!!!

Many wonderful benefits are in store for people who volunteer their resources. E-Mail me and I will give you a couple if you wish!

Sincerely,
Joe Forlenza

I can program in PHP and MySQL which I think you'll find more of works great!

Any script I create, will be required to have a little "Created by: Mark" with a link to my site.

Please email me your business plan so I can figure out what to do. Also send me the scripts you will be needing.

The following is a letter I sent to a programmer interested in helping. This is to easily explain what services we need done. Also, this is for those interested in knowing the business plan and what we need done! Hope it helps!

(Mark... this was sent to you by e-mail)

Dear Mark,

I noticed you wanted me to send you an e-mail explaining my business plan and the scripts I would be needing. Well, PHP is a great language. I have never had the time, nor have I found any sites that have been of any help :)

Well, here's my current business plan. I will soon be setting up my account for 1000 megabytes on 100MegsWebHosting. I am going to set up most of the scripts I would like to be running, and get the network as much traffic as possible. Then, in September/October, I plan on getting a dedicated server with 20GBs of space from 100Megs. I have already discussed this with Reuben and it's all worked out.

Once the server is in place, and I have moved the site there, we will begin to host sites. Sites can either become a part of the 'Network', or they can be off on their own. The sites hosted in the network will be hosted for free, but with limited space. They must be accpeted, which would be pretty tough.

Accounts that pay for hosting would have various plans.

One of the scripts I need is one for a web-based member's area. Member's would be able to sign up, create an account by choosing a login name and password, and then be able to access the member area via login on the main page.

In the member's area would include bonus information, including news and links to special sites. Members would be able to customize the content that appears on their page. I was thinking maybe something such as the Yahoo! Members area. The member's area would be located at the URL my.abyss-network.com. It would be called My.Abyss-Network. Much like the My.MP3 and My.Yahoo!. Do you get what I am saying? LOL!

The member's area's content would be updated very often. Links would be added and subtracted to the list, and new features would be added. Also, customization of links and color would be needed. If you think of any more ideas, send 'em in. Of course, on all pages of the member's area, the linked: 'Created by: Mark' link would appear. Prefferably at the bottom of the page.

Additional scripts include:
Search Site (with a fully customizable results page)
Directory of Sites - would include a complete list of all of the current sites divided into categories.
Web Directory - Listing the best Entertainment sites on the internet by listing them into categories, divided into categories, until a specific topic is reached. I would need a login for this, so I can hire volunteers to search the web and submit links. Editors would have permissions: Admin - would be able to configure categories, add and subtract links, High - would be able to submit a link that would instantly appear, Medium - would submit a link that would need to be approved by a High or Admin member, Low - would need to be able to submit a link for examination by a Medium, High, or Admin. The members would be able to select categories which they would like to work in. Some members will only be allowed to work in the lowest directories, while others will work in the highest, and medium level directories. Here is an example of a directory:

Entertainment > Movies > Comedy > Links Here

Kind of like the one on Net Taxi.com

I hope these are possible. I know it may take a while to create these, but they would be much appreciated. And as soon as we start bringing in the cold-hard cash, I will be able to pay you for your services!
Thanks again! And e-mail me with any comments!

Sincerely,
Joe Forlenza
