What's shakin, all? Listen, I'm new at publishing webpages and I have a question about the correct way to publish a homepage. I used Frontpage to create it, and I uploaded the files from my control panel. It didn't work , so I used the Publish function from Frontpage. Now, I have a list of directories on my homepage instead of it bringing up the homepage.
Should I change the file name in Frontpage to "index.htm" and re-publish? Or do something else that I can't figure out?

You can see my blunders at "www.wwsi-tv.com"
Thanks!
Alan

It looks like you have the files in a folder called index. What you will need to do it just create a file called index.html and have that in the base directory.

Brace yourself: Which is the "root directory" ? In my Cpanel, is it the "www" file?

ok...........but.........I think I did that correctly, however, I just want the "index" file to pop up when you load the site, instead of the directory list.
I went into the cpanel. then to "www" file, changed the "index" file I uploaded to "index.htm". Checked the site and it has the index file there, but doesn't load the page without clicking on the "index" file.
Sorry I'm so iggnorant. I really appreciate your help.:)

Hello,

Actually that is a folder and not a file. You now have a folder called index.html. You will actually need to create a webpage with that name.
