PROCEDURE ENTRY POINT SMAPLS COULD NOT BE LOCATED IN THE DYNAMIC LINK LIBRARY KERNEL32.DLL.
Hello - I am having this error popping up 2X when I open photoshop 6. I can by-pass the error and everything seems to work fine ... well at least it did.
Now I am getting a psicon.dll error when I try to open an image fiel through the "file-open" function within photoshop.
Any ideas?

I'm guessing you were trying to update Photo .
Try either of these 2 things
1. Restart Windows, and then reinstall the Photoshop Update.
2.Restart Windows, rename the psicon.dll file, and then reinstall the Photoshop Update:
1. Restart Windows.
2. In Windows Explorer, locate the psicon.dll file in the Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Shell folder.
3. Rename the psicon.dll file to "psicon.old".
4. Reinstall the Photoshop Update.
If that didn't help just let me know

I actually found the solution to the second issue (psicon.dll file) and was able to fix it.
I am, however, still having a problem with the kernel32.dll. I started having issues when I upgraded to XP. (my printer isn't working now either ... even though I installed the XP drivers for it). I tried reinstalling PS6 - but I might have to reinstall 5 and then the upgrade.
Can you help?

If you don't have the full version for 6 then you would have to unistall and reinstall 5 then upgrade to 6. For your printer what type of printer is it?

I am also recieving this error but as far as i can tell not at any particular times. It seems to just randomly pop up. I can usually figure out these kinds of things but this one has me stumped...any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I actually had a similar problem with photoshop when upgrading from 5... It turns out that the problem occured because the version 5 was a trial version provided at the computer's distrabution... I needed to uninstall the trial version and install version 6 all on it's own...
I was told that the trial version attempting to convert incurred a 1/3 chance of messing up the kernal32.dll file... Frankly, that dll file has always had a bad reputation of getting messed with... especially in windows 95...
