I'm thinking about loading some kind of free/open source blogging software on my site, anyone have any suggestions?

Needs to be easy to set up and use. Looking for any help, thanks.

I use (and really like) Nucleus CMS.

Pretty easy to set up and maintain?

Work pretty well with our host?

How does it compare to the other blogs out there?

Yes it is easy if you know what you are doing. Yes, would work great. It compares... it's a good script. You can try out a few and decide what you would like to use.

I'll try it out, going to overhaul my family web site. This information really helps, thanks.

One more question, do you use the extreme edition?

Also, how do you set it up so it shows up as your index? Like www.yourdomain.com, I haven't tried installing it yet but it seems like it would be at www.mydomain.com/blogs.

Sorry but all this is new to me.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,

No, I just use the version from the site with a few hacks/plug ins.

I just put everything in the nucleus2.5beta folder into my main directory. It'll work and setup fine.

I think someone contacted me privately here maybe via e-mail link on my profile. I though it was a PM notification and deleted it, but I see now... that must not have been the case. If you read this, please send me the message again.

Sorry about that.

Thanks.

I have used MovableType, ExpressionEngine, WordPress and Textile. The first two may cost you $$$. The second two are definately free. ExpressionEngine is probably the best, but it's also the most expensive. WordPress and Textile are great and free... There is a pretty good comparison of blogging software at:

I've decided to use php Nuke for the site. Thanks everyone for your opinion. I'm sure I'll need more help in the future.

Nuke is pretty powerful and might be too extreme for my needs. I'll take a look at your link above and post back any questions I might have.
