Say someone is looking at one of my web pages. Simultaneously, I'm uploading an update. What does the person looking at my page see? (I have a cable modem connection, so things generally upload pretty fast.)

Yeah, that is an interesting thought. If it's a picture you haven't uploaded before I doubt it'd show anything until it's finished (?)--if you're updating a page...hum...?
Maybe we should experiment sometime. Answer one of those questions about the mysterious universe in which we live :)

I cannot say with certainity what would happen when the files are being overwritten. Ideally, the ftp program should upload the complete file before replacing the existing file. I'll look into that.

As for the new files, the user will see the partial file.
